A little about this recipe
I love making this recipe for a quick and easy dessert for a crowd. I always have frozen berries in the freezer, and everyone loves this sweet and tart dessert warm from the oven! You can use whatever type of berry and nuts you prefer, and it can be devoured plain or topped with whipped cream or ice cream!.
This healthy berry crisp is naturally sweetened, full of delicious berries, and is super easy to throw together! Use fresh berries in the summertime or frozen berries when you want a summery treat even when berries aren’t in season.

Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350° and butter a 9x9 inch baking dish.
If you're using fresh berries, wash and remove any stems. Strawberries should be sliced into quarters. If you are using frozen berries, thaw them either overnight in the refrigerator, or soak in warm water for about an hour. Frozen strawberries won't need to be sliced, because they will be soft enough.
In a small bowl mix together your berries, maple syrup, arrowroot powder, lemon juice, and vanilla. Pour into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly over the bottom
Using the same bow, mix together the oats, almond flour, sliced nuts, coconut sugar, salt and cinnamon. After stirring, add in the melted butter and combine.
Drop spoonfuls of the oat mixtures onto the berries and spread evenly.
Bake for 40-50 minutes or until the berry filling is bubbling and crisp is golden brown and lightly browned around the edges. Let rest 10 minutes before serving so the berries call cool and begin to set.
Brittany’s notes
When a recipe needs granulated sugar, I like organic coconut sugar because it is minimally processed, and can contain trace amounts of healthy minerals.
